Jamie Lidell in San Francisco

Bimbo's 365 Club, 1025 Columbus Ave., S.F.
Doors open 7 p.m., $23, 18+

British soul vocalist Jamie Lidell returns to Bimbo’s. His extraordinary live shows careen from glitzy funkadelic extravaganzas to electronic avant-garde showpieces, and are largly improvised as he creates each track live, layering each melody as he goes along. He produces funky, addictive music that blends the sounds of mid-'60s Stax with his own brand of electronic disco. But the focus here is on Lidell's voice, which can be compared to more than a few soul legends.
