UK producer Joe McBride has spent much of his recent career focused on his role as half of the Houndstooth-affiliated Akkord duo, but on a recent mix, it is McBride’s solo Synkro moniker that has been tapped to deliver an introspective session for the latest installment of i-D‘s Slumber Session series. Featuring plaintive, brittle selections from the likes of Boards of Canada, Move D, Gold Panda, and Oneohtrix Point Never, the mix evolves from piano-led ambience into jungle, instrumental hip-hop, and other experimental styles.
