Experimental producer and visual artist Carson Teal has dropped a hallucinatory video for his cut “A,” which was his debut on Toronto-based imprint and collective Bedroomer.

Showing his depth as an artist, Teal directed and animated the video—which is a mind-bending collage of chopped-up video bytes, images, and overlaid animation—as a way to “demonstrate his visual and conceptual understanding of his craft.” While finishing his thesis at the art university Ocadu, Teal has been “researching and exploring the impact of inherited collective cultural anxieties and how the perceptions of these anxieties change overtime,” and with the video, he “appropriates historical footage and focusses on authorship as he scrawls over the visual field.”

“A” was originally released on Bedroomer Vol. IIwhich features all original material from Bedroomer’s Toronto artists Lum, Swim Good, Kare, Eytan Tobin, Meesha, as well as contributions from affiliated acts. Teal’s next outing will be in the form of EP, scheduled to drop via Bedroomer later this year. Ahead of that release, you can check out the video for “A” in the player above, with Bedroomer Vol. II available for stream below.
