Blackest Ever Black has unveiled a new track from LA-based artist Camella Lobo (a.k.a. Tropic of Cancer), which opens its forthcoming vinyl compilation, I Can’t Give You the Life You Want. Lobo (who we profiled a few years back as part of our Bubblin’ Up series) debuted the project alongside Silent Servant on Downwards in 2009, releasing a string of post-punk and new wave-influenced EPs in the years that followed on Mannequin, Blackest Ever Black, and Ghostly International. The darkly opulent “I Woke Up And The Storm Was Over” is her first new song to surface since 2013’s Restless Idylls LP. Stream it below, and hear the full compilation (featuring tracks from Cut Hands and Dalhous) when it lands in September.
