Based in Newcastle in the North-east of England, house and techno label 22 Digit Records has recently celebrated its fiftieth release with Half Century, a three-track EP from UK producer Tom Ellis.

Ellis is widely considered a staple of the UK house scene, having released a vast number of LPs and singles on well over thirty different music labels since 2003 and is a core member of Freerotation Festival in Wales. Having already received a large amount of DJ support, his Half Century EP (stream here) is a laid back, deep, and fluorescent release that sways with a distinct jazz influence that surrounds it.

Now available for download via XLR8R is Tom Ellis’ track “Envelope,” from his previous 22 Digit EP which was released in 2013. The track keeps in line with the deep, jazz-infused style that makes his music so distinct and lush, using airy piano chords that are followed up by an innate, tribal shuffle that will “take your mind” as the track’s vocals entail.
