Belgium’s François Boulanger (a.k.a. Cupp Cave) is set to release RZA (pictured above), his second EP as Ssaliva, via the Vlek imprint on January 16. The eight-track 10″ record follows the multi-faceted producer’s debut cassette EP for Matthewdavid’s Leaving Records from last February. Featured here, “Drugged Out Quest”—an outtake from the RZA sessions—is a hazy shuffle through a sort of alternate hip-hop universe. These slow, lo-fi beats retain a warm tape sound, with laid-back percussion washed over by ambient, Boards of Canada-esque hums.
