The first leak to arrive from Canadian songstress Grimes‘ forthcoming Visions LP for 4AD, “Oblivion,” showcased the kind of ethereal beat-pop that record holds, a sound which “Genesis” expands upon even further. A bouncing bassline and a crunchy rhythm provide the backbone around which the airy vocals, Eastern-influenced synth melodies, and simple piano riffs swirl. It’s a playful and surprisingly endearing track, and effectively excites us even more for the release of Grimes’ new album on February 21. (via Pitchfork)
