Jonquil‘s original “Run” single isn’t much like what’s normally featured on XLR8R; the UK quartet’s summery indie single off of its Point of Go album (artwork above) is rooted in peppy piano chords, bubbly arpeggios, and catchy vocals. However, the band’s frontman Hugo Manuel dabbles in electronic music, garnering himself a reputation for putting together blissed-out and danceable synth-pop as Chad Valley. Perhaps he had something to do with coercing the members of Norwegian trio Souldrop to step up to the plate and offer their own interpretation of “Run.” The remixers churn out an offering that dwarfs the original track’s length by almost twofold and imbues it with shuffling backbeats and a hearty serving of reverb while managing to preserve snippets of Manuel’s vocal performance and the band’s original instrumentation.
