At the end of this week, Barcelona-based producer Tom Watt (a.k.a. Fitzroy North) will team up with Montreal’s Ancient Robot Records to release his latest EP, Cronopic, a five-tracker brilliantly showcasing his analog synth-funk sound. Watt recorded the EP mostly on the road between Barcelona, a farmhouse in the Pyrenees, and various Bordeaux campsites, applying his modern production techniques to his “distinct penchant for 1980s-inspired R&B, electro and boogie-funk jams.” Pulled from the EP is the soulful “Ampersand,” a synth-heavy electro cut full of beautiful textures and Watt’s 80’s inspired sounds.
