Although Tyler Pope (Interference Patterns Records, LCD Soundsystem) and Steven Jess Borth II (CHLLNGR) had crossed paths many times before in their hometown of Sacramento, California but they
actual never really formally met until years later at a party in the Bedstuy
apartment of M.I.A. Instantly connecting, they talked about the potential of working together someday.
Years later the two reunited after they had both started families in two
different countries in Europe, Steve in Copenhagen, Denmark and Tyler in Berlin, Germany.
They finally fulfilled their promise of a collaboration with each other
when an opportunity came because Tyler was in Copenhagen for a series of
concerts with LCD Soundsystem. They were able to sneak away to the studio for a
session and start working on demos. “Disconnected, But Connected” is the first
release to come out of those sessions.
Finds Them And Thrills Them is their first project together and alongside Danish
synth wiz Anders Dixen (AV AV AV) and Stunn Gunn (drummer, producer) together
they have
made something very special for the dance floor. The project uses Tylerʼs catchy
bass lines alongside vintage and modular synthesizers, live horn sections and hard
hitting drummer Stunn Gunn laying down the foundation whilst
Cuban percussionist Eliel Lazo adds his polyrhythmic niceness…Combining a
healthy mix of the digital and analog
worlds with dub being the foundation on every tune. Their first single
“Disconnected, But Connected” is a collaboration with Danish singer Ane Trolle
(Balstyrko) who
adds her charming melodies over science fiction landscapes
