‘We Once Knew’ by Jaga is one of two songs from the debut release for his new label Echo Train Records, based in Christchurch, NZ.

The track takes you on a progressive journey through its nearly 6 minute course; supported by distant vocals, slow pads and a driving break beat. The track was inspired by some vivid dreams involving a dystopian future and memories of Jaga’s home city (Christchurch) before the 2011 earthquakes. We Once Knew sits somewhere between the music you would hear at a 90s warehouse rave and an evolving ambient soundscape.

Echo Train Records aims to bring an emotionally captivating, dark and experimental sound to Christchurch’s thriving yet disjointed underground dance music scene. The next two releases are from another two local producers, with a similar mood. In the future Echo Train will look into featuring international artists.

The label is influenced by 80’s sci-fi movies, late night underground raves and a passion for introspective dance music.
