Weltschmerzdigest presents new track “Untold Words”—a contemplation of technology ethics. It is a result of thoughts on what if people would make you do things you did not intend to do by faking your actions in audio and video?
The track is built on the conflict between natural and artificial things. The speech-engine voice confronts with the human screams, electronic percussion gets mixed up with sampled IKEA parts and apartment keys.
The single cover continues this confrontation. The cut-out letters of different sizes pasted on paper reminding about the old criminal approach to delivering threats. Then a digital glitch layer is added, bringing these threats to the modern world.
The message of the track is clear: the deep fake problem is not something from the science fiction movies and books. It is something from today, and these keys you hear in the track might be already opening your door.
Weltschmerzdigest is an alias of Pavel Doronin, a Russian producer based in Ireland. Pavel has been producing electronic and indie-pop music for a variety of bands and projects for the last 15 years, and also makes music for advertisement and theatre. The idea of Weltschmerzdigest is a reflection on the modern world: concepts of time, technology ethics, cyberstalking, digital loneliness, etc. Inspired by the ‘Wired’ magazine and by the ‘Black Mirror’ series.
I would appreciate any support from you (mention, review, discovery playlist, etc.).
