Mystery Circles presents ‘Music Holds Us’, the debut LP from Chilean producer Nico Rosenberg.

The album was originally intended to be a document of his time spent living in Montreal. Shuffling boxy beats made from cell phone recordings, collaborations with local artists and a string quartet recorded in one of Montreal’s most recognized churches.

But once Rosenberg arrived back in Santiago to finish the album, he
found his country immersed in civil protest in response to a raise in the Santiago Metro’s subway fare, the increased cost of living, privatization and inequality prevalent in the country.

This led to an unjustifiable and violent state of emergency with
the army patrolling the city. Despite the fear and anger, the one week
live recording session continued as scheduled and the music that came out of those sessions felt emotional and hopeful for Rosenberg – inspiring the title ‘Music Holds Us’.
