Hanging Waters is the debut EP from Portland duo ben & dylan and the first release on their new label, waterworks. With warm chords and off the wall drums, these four tracks are a collection of grooving, emotional dance music that doesn’t take itself too seriously, drawing influences from artists like Four Tet, Leon Vynehall, Mica Levi and Kornel Kovacs.
Though the two have been making music together for over a decade, they haven’t released any collaborative music until now. In 2015, Dylan released his first album, Heartland on Civil Music, which was featured on The Fader, Gorilla vs. Bear & Pop Matters. Since that release, Ben and Dylan have scored two Oscar and Emmy nominated documentaries, played festivals including Decibel and SXSW, and generally hunkered down to work on finding their own sound. Now, with Hanging Waters as a mission statement for their label, they aim to confidently capture the sounds they love in dance and electronic music, funneled through their own goofy lens.
