Hailing from Cagliari (Italy), Enrico Follesa is the artist behind Cirene (pronounced chee-reh-neh). Attracted by the communal aspect of house music, his works mostly stem from a collection of obscure childhood memories. From low-top Reebok trainers, colourful NBA jerseys to italo house drenched beach parties, his music evokes a time when we could only show up and engage.
Although his exposure to house music is thorough and it dates back to the late 90s, his experience producing it only spans several months. In the coming months he will release his own original material, accumulated during the early months of 2021.
Producing rap music for 15 years has allowed him to be exposed to numerous influences. Unintentional mentors of his (AKA favorite artists) provided multiple starting points for his personal musical discovery helping him develop a diverse musical palette. Wavy Rhodes sounds, fat synth lines and hazy pads are personal favourites of his, while his drums provide a sturdy structure onto which the bass can develop effortlessly and produce movement within the groove.
Cirene is a project born from a need of sharing and free expression, without judgement or ego and it’s meant to document a journey towards self-acceptance. It aims to uplift and build a connection with the listener along the way.
