Download a Heavy Techno Mix from UVB
The mix was recorded exclusively for XLR8R ahead of UVB's performance at Exit Festival 2017.
UVB is the pseudonym of the French DJ and producer Sébastien Michel.
Having unearthed a love for music during his childhood, he began focusing on the electronic genre in 2009, when first decided to start producing. 2014 then brought his breakthrough releasing his first EP on the Rotterdam-based label MORD, followed by the double-pack Second Life which saw support from some of the biggest names in the techno scene.
The year 2015 marked an important progress on both DJ and production sides. He decided to dedicate himself full time to DJing and production, touring through Europe, Asia, and South America, while playing in some of the world’s finest techno institutions, including Berghain, Factory 010, and Concrete. Meanwhile, he continued producing and released another more EP on Fracture soon followed by his first LP Life on MORD at the end of the year.
In 2016, UVB launched his own imprint, Body Theory, where he has released three EPs to date and also made an appearance on a cassette release under his new alias Elements of Joy, showcasing his taste for industrial/wave music.
Today, he shares a studio mix exclusively for XLR8R which is available for download below ahead of his performance at this year’s Exit Festival.
When and where was the mix recorded?
In my studio over the past week
Could you tell us about the idea behind it?
The idea was to showcase tracks I’ve been enjoying playing lately.
How did you choose the records in it?
I tried to diversify the selection within my taste’s boundaries, so anything that could fit in the mix independently from style or genre. But looking back now, I think I was in the mood for mostly techno in this one.
How does the mix compare to one of your club mixes?
It pretty much is how I mix in a club (or I least what I’m aiming at). Always try to inject some of my own stuff (like a kick or anything else) to make the mix more personal.
What have you got planned for 2017?
Keep on touring, also started playing live recently so working on that as well. Besides that; I have some EPs planned on my own label and on other ones.
