Tapping “Function” and “Void”—two tracks from his recentAngels & Devils LP for Ninja Tune—UK producer Kevin Martin (a.k.a. The Bug) has turned in an immense new video. Directed by London collective Factory Fifteen (and produced in conjunction with The Creators Project), the video leaps into a future full of mindless automation where life (much like the clip’s color palette) is restricted to a sort of greyscale banality. Eventually the structures of the rigid society begin to fall apart, but the clip’s protagonist seems to be the only one who notices. The storyline is further enhanced by vivid digital animations which focus on the decaying architecture, which pairs well with The Bug’s “Function” and “Void” productions, with the former taking shape as heavy-handed beat featuring grime MC Manga while the latter incorporates the vocals of Liz Harris (a.k.a. Grouper) into its subdued, static-laden run. The Bug’s full new “video short” can be watched below.
