Last month, word came down that UK producer Throwing Snow (a.k.a. Ross Tones) would soon be dropping his debut full-length as a solo artist. Entitled Mosaic, the LP is still awaiting release—it’s scheduled to appear via Houndstooth on June 2—but today, Tones has elected to share another one of its tracks. “Avarice” is an interesting cut, one which combines a crunchy, growling low end with an emotive violin melody. While the structure is most definitely modern, the song’s aesthetic recalls classic dubstep, or perhaps even trip-hop’s golden era. (We mean those comparisons in a good way.) “Avarice” is streaming in full below.
