Over the past several months, Bay Area producer Tycho (a.k.a. Scott Hansen) has been sharing bits of his upcoming album, Awake, in a rather tantalizing fashion, revealing the title track back in October, then following it up with LP cut “Montana” in January and latest single “Spectre” just a couple of weeks ago. We still have to wait until March 18 for Awake (artwork above) to be officially released via Ghostly, but as of today, the entire record can be heard online. The LP is streaming in full at NPR, where the eight-track effort is described as “the soundtrack to a sunbaked road trip, capturing the inexplicable nostalgia you feel imagining a new life in a new town glimpsed from the highway.” After hearing Awake, we have a feeling that most listeners won’t have a problem crafting their own metaphors for the music’s gauzy tones.
