Before the upcoming remix 12″ for DJ Koze‘s XLR8R Pick’d Amygdala LP drops next month, Matthew Herbert‘s (pictured above) a-side rework of “Magical Boy” is now available to stream. The 10-minute production extends Koze’s original track (which also featured the vocals of Matthew Dear) into a laid-back expedition full of spiralling sound design, subtle soul, and appropriately hidden bits of sonic abstraction—all of which comes topped off by a particularly sultry vocal performance from a singer by the name of Rahel. The forthcoming remix 12″, which also features a rework by Berlin producer Efdemin on its b-side, sees an official release on December 2 via DJ Koze’s own Pampa label. In the meantime, Matthew Herbert’s somewhat unexpectedly pop-flecked remix of “Magical Boy” can be heard below.
