Moog has announced it will discontinue production of its Little Phatty analog synthesizer, one of the last units designed with the help of the company’s founder and synthesizer pioneer Bob Moog. Released in 2006 after Bob Moog’s passing, the Little Phatty was actually the first synth whose design was overseen by the company’s current Chief Engineer, Cyril Lance, and marked a large leap forward in Moog’s attempt to seamlessly integrate digital control into its analog sound and circuitry. Although no exact reason has been given as to why the company plans to discontinue production of the Little Phatty (perhaps to make room for the newer Sub Phatty model), they have prepared a nice mini-doc to send the synth on its way.
