Hailing from Warsaw, Micha? Wachnowski and Micha? Maletz (a.k.a. Negativ) have clearly spent some time studying the dance music coming out of the UK in recent years, particularly that of labels like Hotflush, Aus, and others which represent the sleeker side of the bass-music spectrum. And the pair’s efforts were apparently not in vain, as “Someone Special,” the lead cut from Negativ’s forthcoming EP for hometown label Sequel One, is a fine slice of garage-indebted club music, with its chorded stabs, skittering percussion, and undeniable bass weight rendering it a tune likely to please at least a few dancefloors in the months to come. Negativ’s Someone Special EP will not see an official release until September 15, but before then, a preview of the four-track effort can be heard after the jump.
