Arriving just in time for Stygian Stride’s (a.k.a. Jimy SeiTang) self-titled debut on Thrill Jockey, the ambient producer and former Psychic Ills member has shared a video for album highlight “Drift.” The clip follows three criminals through the late-night back streets of Brooklyn as they make their way across town to an abandoned warehouse with plans to crack open a safe. The tune itself sounds considerably influenced by the classic glacial works of Gas and Porter Ricks, as it’s a stark and minimal exercise in tension without release. Appropriately, so is the clip, which relies on ponderous atmosphere to propel the video forward. The self-titled Stygian Stride LP is out today on Thrill Jockey.
