Portland-based Natasha Kmeto (pictured above) is a standout among the Dropping Gems clan, mostly due to the signature stamp her moody vocals leave on her spaced-out, R&B-infused take on leftfield beat work. Here though, her vocals are utilized by former Ohioan Jason Burns (a recent Pacific Northwest transplant), whose remix of “Pleasure Delay” doesn’t bring the original tune back to earth so much as it merely gives Kmeto’s vocals a tidal force. His warm synths and soft kicks rise and fall according to Kmeto’s delivery, making it the kind of remix where both artists come out intact and in sync, as though some previously undiscovered chemistry had been there all along.
