Though the artwork for his latest EP may suggest a release filled with bright and funky tunes, 19-year-old Gus Nisbet (a.k.a. The Attic Project) has instead conjured up some dark and mystic material for the Dystopia EP. The four-track record is a journey into Nisbet’s wild imagination, haunted by prayer calls, strange drones, and the sounds of eerie eastern music. “The Gale” is perhaps the strangest and most mysterious tune of them all, one which is most obviously influenced by eastern vocal music. Sitting somewhere in between mellowed-out dubstep and, say, the soundtrack for Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Nisbet created a truly cinematic soundscape riddled with conflict and sadness throught his production. You can check out more of The Attic Project’s Dystopia EP, which is out today via Fat! Records, after the jump.
