Italian production outfit Tufo (a.k.a. Massimo Di Lena and Lucio Aquilina) is giving away an unreleased track ahead of the October 16 release of its Leadlights EP (artwork above) for City Wurl. While the duo may seem like newcomers to the scene, Di Lena and Aquilina have been producing as a part of the Early Sounds Collective for some time. Featured here, “Spiral Stairway” is unlike most of Tufo’s previous productions, as it strays away from the sounds of deep house and leans more on garage-inspired rhythms. Beginning with softly sustained Rhodes chords, the groove quickly turns into a stuttering two-step beat layered with airy, swelling synths, soulfully moaning vocals, and punchy sub frequencies.
