World of Wonders, the Gemmy-fronted sub-label of Bristol’s Multiverse camp that also includes Pinch’s Tectonic and Joker’s Kapsize imprints, is preparing a compilation that charts the history of the Purple WoW sound from 2008 to the present. Led by the “Purple Trinity” of Joker, Gemmy, and Guido, Purple Legacy – A History of Purple WoW documents the last five years of the scene’s crunk-infused, melody-rich dubstep. Classics of the half-step genre, from Joker & Ginz’s “Purple City” to Gemmy’s “BK 2 The Future,” are included in the compilation’s 15 tracks, which will be available on CD and digital formats at the end of June/beginning of July. In the meantime, those looking for a quick purple refresher course can take a listen to “Purple City,” below, and check out our review of one of the scene’s best full-lengths from 2010, Guido’s Anidea, here.
