The New York City beatsmith formerly known as InfinitiRock, now operating under the guise of Raja, recently unleashed a bevy of new tracks in the form of three beat tapes for the Astro Nautico imprint, respectively titled Red, Witch, and Color. Here, we have a tune from Color (artwork above), a collection of songs which finds the young producer exploring his more abstract and futuristic inklings. “Luv (Someone Else)” is a fine example, pitting a soulful, almost funky, synth progression against a skittering beat and tuned kick drums for a melancholy outing that is still befitting of some solid head-nodding. After giving the tune a listen below, you can head to the Astro Nautico Bandcamp to cop all three Raja beat tapes—which cover everything from dusty slices of instrumental hip-hop to solemn solo piano endeavors—for free.
