It was unfortunate news that the Red Bull Music Academy had to withdraw from hosting this year’s events in Tokyo in the wake of the devastating tsunami, but things started looking brighter once Madrid was named as the new locale RBMA 2011 would inhabit. Now, with the announcement of the first round of events scheduled to take place in the Spanish capital, the excitement has jumped a notch. Artists set to appear between October 23 and November 25 include Global Communication (performing the excellent 76:14 LP in full), Matias Aguayo, Mathew Jonson, El Guincho, Frankie Knuckles (pictured above), Ghosts on Tape, Mannie Fresh, Tiger & Woods, Krystal Klear, Modeselektor, Doc Daneeka, Clams Casino, and xxxy, among many others. You can find more information about the month-long string of musical events at RBMA Madrid here, and keep your eyes peeled, as RBMA promises that more events will be announced in the weeks ahead.
