HEROARKY is a Tokyo born,Sydney based experimental/minimalist producer/audio-visual artist. Musically, Heroarky draws influence from minimalist producers such as Steve Reich, as well as his day job helping refugees, mainly from Syria and Iraq, to establish a new life in Sydney.

The track “Diaspora” comes from his latest EP “Mikrocosmos” – sound art led experiemenral/minimal/ambient music reflecting on the current pandemic crisis.

Similar to the rest of the world, no doubt that life in Australia has changed completely within a few weeks. Self-isolation/social distancing has led myself to reflect on existentialism while observing a rare paradigm shift happening globally.

The world will be different undeniably after this but there is always a silver lining coming out of a crisis situation and do hope that we will bounce back once it’s over. To my surprise, my refugee students didn’t seem to be so worried about what’s happening. I asked why and their response was: “We’ve gone through much worse than this. this is nothing compared to what we had to deal with”

They are right- we’ve got to be resilient in a time of crisis like this.
