Cult Glaswegian post punk outfit Junto Club return to Snap, Crackle & Pop with their second release for the label. Known in some cirlces as your favourite DJ’s favourite band you’ve never heard of, they follow up appearances at the late Andrew Weatherall’s Convenanza festival and releases on Optimo.
The Alameda EP finds the Junto Club expanding on the sound that has come to define the band, which is to say sparse electronics and percussive post-punk underscoring David Wilson’s haunting Alan Vega inspired vocals. On Hercules the synths and drum machines take center stage pulling their sound from the shadows and firmly onto the dancefloor, wasting no time with an 11 minute electro onslaught, taking cues from the likes of Ladytron and New Order.
