British/Canadian producer Kitsissut is currently based in London UK. He works in a range of electronic styles through the lens of jazz, minimal, acid house, visual art and fashion. ‘Kitsissut’ is a tiny island at the southern-most tip of Greenland, sometimes glimpsed by the producer on numerous flights between Toronto and London. It is symbolic of the transatlantic dynamic – and also perhaps, never quite ‘belonging’ in one place.

Over a decade living in Toronto involved sound designing and field recording for independent film and TV, along with some musical composition. Work screened notably at Toronto International Film Festival and Cannes, along with a dash of mainstream TV credits for music and audio-post engineering duties.

London has inevitably been a rich source of influence for Kitsissut. At times overwhelming, cold – equally beautiful, thrilling. Long walks (dérive), galleries, clubs, mischief, the vistas of late night cab rides across the city, have revealed much to influence the writing.

The Kitsissut project is an opportunity – given increased focus by lockdowns – to make sense of, interpret is some way an unruly collection of influences – auditory and visual. The three EP’s released in December 2020 draw a line, with further releases planned in 2021.
