Not only his name (L.C.A.O: linear combination of atomic orbitals) but also the music and artwork of the studied chemist are influenced by the world of atoms. After his musical education as a guitarist in some post-rock/new wave bands he started his solo project LCAO.
His first LP was released in 2015 on the Portuguese label “Con+ainer Music” and reached Airplays in the radio show “Kaleidoskop” of the band Jazzanova on Radio 1 (Germany), and on the Portuguese station Antena 3. His tracks made it into the record box of Rui Vagas and to the Pop-Kultur Festival in Berlin, among others.
In his own monthly radio show “The Periodic Music of Elements” on RBL Berlin, the Italian-born Berliner-by-choice presents his broad musical habitus.
The track “Lithium” has been self-released by LCAO in 2020 (available on Bandcamp, https://lcao.bandcamp.com/track/lithium), following his full-length album “Forbidden Transitions”, and before his last EP “Aufbau”.
The song has a DIY music video freely inspired by methods of chemical separations (www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZZhpRywZDpI), and released by LCAO thanks to “Shoot it yourself”, “Bimm Berlin”, “Musicboard Berlin”.
