On July 1, 2022 SPLITTED will be released, a mini album of five unreleased tracks plus a bonus track.
This new release by Marco Cassanelli and Deckard is in the lineup of the new “Puglia Sounds 2022 Record Programming.”
The year 2022 is a year of intense production for the electronic duo known to most for their refined technique on modular synth. SPLITTED is a reflection on the deep divisions being experienced in the 21st century and is an attempt to recompose them musically. The new tracks are the logical continuation of the previous ones on the “Opus Sectile” ep released in April 2022. In both releases the architecture of the compositions is inspired by the geometry and symmetry used in all visual arts, sculpture and performance.
All of the tracks were produced in Trani, Italy between March and April 2022 at Deckard’s Studio.
“SPLITTED”, like the entire discography of the duo, is the result of studio live sessions recorded using analog and modular synthesizers. The use of such particular instruments characterizes Marco Cassanelli and Deckard’s sound, both in their recordings and live performances.
This analogical and improvisational approach, which is not digitally calculated or planned, gives the recorded tracks the same feeling that they have during modular live sets.
In their performances Marco Cassanelli and Deckard bring their entire repertoire to life in a sort of “mash-up” that becomes a single flow without interruptions in which old and new tracks are remixed and reworked according to the mood of the moment, moving towards sounds that are more ambient or deeper depending on the vibe of the live context and the place.
The soft geometries of SPLITTED become moldable matter, the subject of interpretation and changes of perspective, fluid shapes in a continuous, kaleidoscopic mixing.
Splitted will be released in digital form and on limited edition CDs, to be followed by the colored vinyl version.
