Hey guys! Having another bash at submitting a track for one of your round-ups. This is my next single ‘Prurient’, and I think it’s one of the strongest tracks I’ve created so far.

I wanted to create something dark but moving, with lots of subtle textures. The track is very trip-hop influenced and was written as a love letter to the bands that I never got to experience properly the first time round – Portishead, Massive Attack, Sneaker Pimps etc. These are all bands that I’ve discovered as an adult, long after their prominence in the scene. I hope I managed to capture some of the emotion and depth that those bands do so well.

The track itself was created entirely on my iPhone, using the iOS app ‘Auxy’ – a tool that I have put to good use in all my releases so far, but this time I took it a step further and spent a lot of time working on the mix within the app before exporting the final, unmastered version. The track was then mastered using CloudBounce – another tool that has become indispensable for me. I hope the song is a testament to what can be achieved with minimal equipment and without significant financial investment.
