Astropolis is pleased to reveal a second various EP on its sublabel DÔME, this young label that highlights the local scene with a panorama of sounds and atmospheres.
For this second release, let’s dive into a voodoo narration with NZE NZE , 440hz, Shelter and Pi Doom.
The EP opens with a deep dive into darkness and a strange world. Welcome to NZE NZE first ritual, the fusion between UVB76 and Sacred Lodge. A hybrid combination of early industrial music, tribal instrumentation, tuned percussions and heavy basslines with mystic vocals in Fang (Central African language). « Me Ve Zimi » (meaning ‘I am lost’) evokes a cry for help. A wandering figure who can no longer communicate, lost in an urban anthill. This first track by NZE NZE tells the awakening and distress of this being who no longer recognises his body and who has forgotten his language. The result is a cavernous and transformed voice, surrounded by a trap rhythm and cyber-voodoo atmospheres.
Second track is signed PiDOOM from Rennes and now Odessa-based and member of Система collective. Also known as Knappy Kaisernappy, PiDOOM is a fictive character delivering sound fictions with field recordings, its own narrations and ambient atmospheres. A little excursion on the black sea with dark incantations.
On « Dub Killa », 440Hz delivers a cosmic and smooth journey between breaks, electro and dub atmospheres with deep basslines and cool melodies. Emotive and stirring, a cool lift-off for the dance floor.
Shelter ends the EP with a raw, fun and fast 808 jam with a very raw signature reminding L.I.E.S releases. A euphoric and trippy dance with an authentic and delicious vibe full of acid melodies, 808 claps, dirty groove, drum loops and bits of electro.
