What happens when shoegaze collides with early-’90s jungle, footwork, Chicago rap, and a love for Outkast and the greater Dungeon Family collective? Apparently, Phaseone happens. Twenty-six-year-old Andrew Jernigan got his start producing IDM and rap beats for various MCs, but eventually shifted to more blissed-out musical pastures. Last year’s two-song entry for Lefse‘s Way Slow series turned heads, and now Jernigan is at work on a proper Phaseone album, which should at some point see the light of day through the Williams Street label. He’s also been bitten by the relocation bug, as he recently left his hometown for the bright lights of New York City.
