Earlier this month, Warp mainstay Squarepusher (a.k.a. Tom Jenkinson) released the Music for Robots EP, an ambitious effort which collected five songs composed by Jekinson and performed by a group of Japanese robots called Z-Machines. Now a new mini-doc has shed light on the process which yielded the EP. Provided by Squarepusher, the brief video focuses on the designers of the robotic band, giving glimpses into the research and development of the Z-Machines outfit as a team of Japanese engineers test and calibrate the many moving parts involved. Eventually, the clip offers a quick look at the recording process for the EP before launching into a “live” performance of sorts by the robots. The full clip can be watched below.
