Seattle producer Kid Smpl, the burgeoning artist who was featured just yesterday as part of Bubblin’ Up Week 2013, has given us his rework of “Fiction” by The xx. The muffled vocal samples and warbling overtones within Kid Smpl’s production quietly create the kind of “night bus” atmosphere that he’s gradually become known for, a mood which is complemented by delicate piano chords that echo around the minimal instrumentation. “Fiction (Kid Smpl Remix)” seems at once contained and virtually endless, and feels something like drifting slowly into unconsciousness.
