Nunca Duerma is a burgeoning beatmaker who hails from Chicago and is set to make the trip out west for his debut at Los Angeles’ renowned Low End Theory party later this month. In anticipation, the producer has sent over “He Is Gone,” a choppy beat that makes use of fast-looped samples while its rhythms nod to the juke and footwork tradition of his hometown. Still, “He Is Gone” does see Duerma (who released his Shapeshifter LP via Eliot Lipp’s Old Tacoma imprint earlier this year) imparting plenty of his own personality onto the track, with blurry flashes of glitched electronics and a melancholic piano melody further building upon the tune’s jittery rhythmic base.
