Late last year, Sydney pair Wordlife dropped its Dat Groove EP via Australian label Motorik. Led by the duo’s own hyperactive version of the title track (which also featured the talents of DJ Funk), the record also enlisted remixes from the likes of Cómeme affiliates Carisma, as well as UK pair Mak & Pasteman, whose rework is offered here. On its remix, Mak & Pasteman tone down the boisterous vibes of Wordlife’s original, reshaping “Dat Groove” into a darker club affair, but one still sprinkled with enough of the tune’s ghetto-house vocal samples to keep it related to Wordlife’s original construction. The UK outfit’s brooding remix can be downloaded below, while the rest of Wordlife’s i>Dat Groove EP can be picked up on Motorik now, to be followed by an EP from Melbourne group The Finger Prince on January 10.
