Night Musik is an alias of composer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Shub Roy, a collaborator and touring member of Dirty Beaches. For the last two years, Roy has spent countless hours touring across the world with Dirty Beaches, taking him through “from the afterhours of Berlin and Tokyo, to the night trains of Russia and the barrios of Lisbon and beyond.” The result is the birth of his new solo project, Night Musik, and the first full length under that moniker, Transit. Album cut “Eternal” was inspired by the time Roy spent in Lisbon, soaking up the flourishing scene with artists such as DJ Nigga Fox, Marfox, and DJ Maboku. For remix duties, Roy enlisted Canadian experimental collective Yamantaka // Sonic Titan—who Roy used to be a member of—who’s remix recalls the hyper-activeness of footwork as much as it does the heaviness of Japanese psych.
