Co-founder of world-renowned collective Buraka Som Sistema and credited with playing a huge role in breaking kudoro into the mainstream, Branko is a formidable force of sound that has taken his particular, tribal, almost-always-danceable music to a huge global platform.
With the release of his debut solo LP, Atlas, released via Portuguese imprint Enchufada, Branko traveled to three continents and five cities in five weeks to work with over twenty collaborators. In addition to working with the likes of Nonku Phiri, Princess Nokia, Okmalumkoolkat, and Brazilian superstar MC Bin Laden, Red Bull Music Academy documented the entire process in a web series titled Atlas Unfolded. Watch the entire five-episode series where Branko travels to Amsterdam, Sao Paulo, Cape Town, New York, and Lisbon by going here.
In addition to premiering this landmark release, Branko will also be releasing a BitTorrent bundle which features reworks from artists like Dotorado Pro, Rastronaut, Beauty Brain, and more. Ahead of the bundle release, Branko has offered up Siete Catorce‘s remix of his track “Paris-Marshela” as today’s XLR8R download. Featuring vocalist Cachupa Psicadelica, the track starts with an atmospheric, melancholic tone before jumping into a frenzy of infectious, pulsating kudoro music with a heavy LFO and unpredictable rhythms.
