The latest release from Alpha Pup offshoot Dome of Doom Records comes from Marcel Rodriguez-Lopez (a.k.a Eureka The Butcher). A Grammy award winner and the keyboardist and percussionist of the The Mars Volta and Zechs Marquise, Lopez has moved on to pursue his love of analog culture with his new solo project and is slated to drop his debut LP, titled Music For Mothers, under his Eureka The Butcher moniker. Set to drop March 18 on digital and as a limited-edition cassette, the album is a raw, broad, and bass-heavy collection of tracks that Lopez worked on while touring The Mars Volta and Zechs Marquise. On the album’s press release, Lopez wrote “I worked on it in buses, vans, planes, dressing rooms, airports, hotel rooms, backyards, sidewalks, just about everywhere.”

Ahead of tomorrow’s debut, Eureka The Butcher has graciously provided album cut “El Paso Research” as today’s XLR8R download. Using an old western guitar riff that brings to mind Ennio Morricone, the track utilizes a hefty, wavering bass that contrasts with the guitar to create a riveting aura of renegade violence and energy that shows no mercy.
