Alex Over debuted his Aeolian project with Dawning, a deep, tripped-out two-track EP ripe for the dark corners of a dancefloor. It signalled an interesting new talent, with an ear for off-kilter melodies.
On his latest release, Prolong, Over takes the ideas first developed on Dawning and buries them deeper into the shadows. Deep, rolling grooves are accentuated by found sounds and winding modular synths on the EPs title track; and on “Detain (Midset Calm),” Over offers a deeper interpretation with melancholic vibes.
