Today, Melbourne upstart Air Max ’97 self-released his new Anodized EP, a five-track record full of sharp club music. Opening cut “Apercu” serves as a fine example of the budding artist’s talents. Built around a constantly revolving array of hard-edged percussion, the tune does not need much to get its point across, keeping the various rhythms pulsing while brief spurts of ghostly melodies and gradual synth washes add a tasteful amount of musical texture.
