Getting his start in breakcore under the Machinochrist moniker, UK-born, now Berlin-based artist Ascetic lands on Planet Terror Records with his latest full-length, The Citizen Made From Glass. Deconstructing techno’s framework, Ascetic takes an experimental approach to the genre, incorporating deep ambient elements with more upfront, industrial-tinged textures. Opening with muted drums and flickering, noise-like percussion, LP cut “Dreams Of Burning Cities” takes us on a dark ride through the mind of Ascetic. Dense layers swathe back and forth like waves, underpinned by the insistent low-end thuds which keep you locked in for the six-minute run.
