Matthewdavid‘s Leaving Records has introduced California artist Brogan Bentley with the release of “Ask When I’m Night,” the lead single from his upcoming debut EP. The tune, which the label referrs to as an “after-hours, summertime dance jam for the fam,” also comes with a video (embedded after the jump) that tinkers with the sort of easygoing psychedelia Matthewdavid and his LA-based imprint specialize in. Unfocused lenses, abstract light patterns and fleeting cuts of a chandelier accompany Bentley’s cooing samples and hooting synths for a soothing effect, much like the laid-back energy of a warm summer night. The Brogan Bentley EP will feature three original productions from the new producer, and will be released July 10 on both cassette and digital formats.
