With a single EP to his name this year, 2014 has been somewhat quiet on the release front for London DJ/producer Ossie, who appeared on the Hyperdub label in 2012 and spent most of last year focusing on his Black Orange Juice project. Still, from the sound of his remix for fellow London duo 2:54‘s (pictured above) recent “Blindfold” single—a track which will appear on the group’s forthcoming The Other I LP for Bella Union��the beatmaker’s craft is still in fine form. A rock-leaning pop tune, Ossie reshapes “Blindfold” into a bass-fueled club track, one sprinkled with echoed vocals and guitars—as well a good deal of up-swung percussion—but ultimately propelled by its series of deep-tuned bass notes.
