Warsaw-based DJ and producer The Phantom (a.k.a. Bartosz Kruczynski) is starting 2012 off with a bang, dropping his second EP, aptly titled The Phantom EP 2, which features this song, “Colossus,” and three other bass-driven dance tracks. The instrumental “Colossus” features a heavy low end that draws from grime, while the song’s retro-sounding and occasionally atmospheric synth lines more closely recall ’80s electro-funk. The EP will be the first release of the year for the consistently solid Silverback imprint, and is due for a vinyl-only release on January 16.
